Nitrogen isotope signatures in shell organic phases

In a newly published article in Geochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Qian Huang and colleagues, including Martina Conti and Bernd Schöne, members of the SEACHANGE Mainz team and York team, show that different shell organic pools carry distinct nitrogen-bearing contents and amino acid compositions, and have different nitrogen isotope signatures. The findings will provide direct guidance for bulk and compound-specific amino acid nitrogen isotope proxies in shells for the SEACHANGE project.
