Zoƫ Heard
PhD student
Zoë Heard completed her MSc Marine Environmental Management degree at the University of Exeter in 2021.
Zoë's research project drew upon historical records to examine the extensive historical exploitation of the bluefin tuna species group in order to illuminate past and present marine management issues.
Zoë has returned to the University to study a PhD where she will use marine historical approaches to understand major ecosystem responses across major cultural transitions, namely the industrialisation of the fishing industry in the North Sea and the colonisation of Australia. Her research will integrate material and written historical records spanning recent centuries, and will be contributing to Work Package 2 and 3.
