Qian Huang

Postdoctoral researcher

Dr Qian Huang is marine ecologist broadly interested in the changes to food web dynamics from the impacts of human activities and using biomarker proxies to assess these impacts.

To tackle these issues she mainly uses benthic invertebrates as ecological models and approaches based on trophic markers, notably stable isotopes.

Qian will work with the team at the University of Mainz on methodological refinement of amino acid compound-specific isotope analysis (CSIA-AA) in shell organics. They will look at δ13C and δ15N of individual amino acids in absolutely dated, live-collected and fossil shells to identify temporal changes of the food web structure and determine the primary producer groups at the base of the food web in different major cultural transition periods.
