Jane Earland

Jane completed her BSc Geography degree at the University of Exeter in 2020.
Jane Earland has previously worked with members of the SEACHANGE research team, completing her undergraduate dissertation on the sclerochronology of the bivalve mollusc Arctica islandica, and application of growth rates as a shell dating methodology.
She has returned to the University of Exeter to complete a PhD on Holocene palaeoecology of marine sequences from the Northern Isles (Shetland and Orkney), with the aim of assessing the impact of human cultural transitions on marine biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. Jane’s research will be looking at the totality of preserved material in sediment cores, and will be contributing to Work Packages 1 and 2.
