Jack Wilkin
PhD student
Jack is a PhD student at the Camborne School of Mines (University of Exeter) working on Holocene sediment cores from around South Georgia.
Jack’s background is in palaeontology with a BSc in Palaeontology at the University of Portsmouth and an MByRes in Geology from the University of Exeter. In 2020, he worked as a Research Assistant under Sev Kender processing sediment cores from the West Antarctic Peninsula. He really enjoyed working with Antarctic sediment cores which inspired him to apply for a PhD working on a similar topic.
His PhD will focus on the use of foraminifera and diatom assemblages as well as geochemical proxies from sediment cores collected from South Georgia. Jack also contributes to a few undergraduate courses as a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Exeter.
